Ms. DeGennaro’s First Grade Class! 1/26 – 1/30

Hi everyone! TerraNovas went well and the kids put in their best work. Those results will come out some time in the Spring. Please continue to check their green folders for any important notices and information. This week is Lutherans Schools Week! Which means it is time for spirit week. Below are the themed days for the week. 

 


Monday – Pajama Day / Tuesday – Joyful Noise (bright colors) / Wednesday – Dress Your Best / Thursday – Zoom Meeting Day (Dress presentable on top and then comfortable on the bottom) / Friday – Post Self (Dress as your younger self or older self)

 

Spelling – 3x each or ABC order is due on Wednesday. Our spelling test is on Friday. Our new words this week are: book, look, cook, took, hood, wood, nose, cute, buy, done

 

Math – We have started module 8, Data and Graphs. Our next math test is going to be February 4th.

 

ELA – Our reading test is on Thursday. Our new story this week is “From Cows to You”. We are going to learn about the /oo/ sound this week like in the word book. We are also gonna learn about adding ed and ing to words where we need to double the last letter. I will teach them a little trick and chant to know when to do this. For example drop turns into dropped.  Our HF words are: after, buy, done, every, soon, work.

 

Writing – We have worked on unscrambling sentences. Soon we will begin our narrative writing unit.

 

Social Studies – We learned about Martin Luther King Jr and the importance of what he did. Now we will learn what being a citizen means.

 

Religion – We have begun unit 5 and will learn about the story of “The Birth of Jesus Foretold”
