Mrs. Skoch’s Updates for the Week of September 8, 2025

Welcome back to our first full week of school! Last week, we worked on getting into routines and started a few lessons. This week, expect a little more homework and the very first memory quiz in the religion classes. Here are the updates for each class.

6th Religion

This week will continue learning about creation and the fall into sin. Then, we will study the significance of the Tower of Babel. We will also begin learning about Abram (Abraham). The memory verse this week is our verse for the year, 2 Peter 3:18. Students should study from the Google Classroom. The quiz is Friday.

6th Social Studies

In social studies, we will study the theories about early humans and their migration patterns during the paleolithic and neolithic eras. We will especially focus on how they adapted to varied environments.

7th Religion

In religion this week, we will finish learning about Creation, and then we will study the aftermath of the fall into sin- Cain and Abel, and then the Great Flood. Then, we will study the promises that God made to Abram (Abraham). The overarching theme this week is that God always keeps His promises. The memory verse this week is our verse for the year, 2 Peter 3:18. Students should study from the Google Classroom. The quiz is Friday.

7th Social Studies

The first half of this week, we will finish studying the early civilizations of North, Central, and South America. Then, we will refresh our memories about the changes and trade happening throughout Europe, Africa, and Asia during the 1400s and 1500s, and how that led to exploration of the Americas.

8th Religion

This week we will finish studying Creation and then the fall into sin. Then, we will learn about the consequences of the Tower of Babel. The main theme of this week is the fact that even though the world fell away from God, He still redeemed His people through Christ. The memory verse this week is our verse for the year, 2 Peter 3:18. Students should study from the Google Classroom. The quiz is Friday.

8th Social Studies

For the majority of this week, we will study the positives of Reconstruction- more rights for African Americans, improved education in the South, and the southern economy shifting away from cotton. However, we will also learn about the groups who were trying desperately to take away right from African Americans and managed to usher in the Jim Crow Era. We will complete this short unit next week. The test date will be posted on the Google Classroom later this week.
