Mrs. Leahy’s Lovely Kindergarten Class

Welcome to our first full week of Kindergarten! The children are adjusting very well, getting acquainted with classroom, their classmates, and their supplies! I will be sending a message on Class

Joke of the Week: Where do you learn to make ice cream?

Song of the Week- Each week we will have a Christian song that we listen to to start our day! This weeks song is “Who Can” by Cochren & Co. and last week we listened to “Love God, Love People” by Danny Gokey.

Language Arts- We are starting our year by reviewing the letters of the alphabet. This week we are working on letters C-E this week. To learn and review the letters we are identifying them, writing, singing, and watching videos; all of these things will help us reinforce what we are learning! Each day we will open with identifying letters and their sounds.

Our first sight word we are learning is “I”. We will learn how to say it, spell it, and most importantly identify it throughout sentences, stories, and sentences we make.

We will be learning about concepts of print, how to identify the front and back cover of a book, as well as words in a sentence. We will listen to Mrs. Leahy and determine how many words are in a sentence.

Math- We will begin our math series Into Math and we will work on numbers 1-5. We are identifying them, counting, writing, and representing the numbers by holding up said number of fingers or crayons.

Homework- We will have homework each night except for Friday’s going forward. This week’s homework will be to reinforce our sight word “I”.

Jesus Time- We are diving into Mrs. Leahy’s children’s Bible and reading such fun stories, completing crafts, activities, and watching videos to enjoy the stories! This week we are reading about God’s Creation story and drawing pictures and using stickers to recreate the story!

Social Studies- We will discuss 9-11 and the impact it had on our country.

We will be taking a “Trinity Walk” where we walk around our school to find different places and items in our pictures! This helps the children get familiar with our school and what is around them! Lastly, we will be learning about patterns!

Word of the Week: Last weeks word was ‘grow’, this weeks word is ‘patient’.

Can’t wait for a great week!
