Mrs. Skoch’s Updates for the Week of October 6, 2025

Welcome back to a new week! Here are the updates for each of the classes. Please note, none of the religion classes have a memory verse this week as they are reviewing for, or taking unit tests.

6th Religion

The last lesson of unit 1 will cover Joseph interpreting dreams for the Pharaoh and his officials in Egypt. Then, we will begin reviewing for the test on unit 1, which will be on Wednesday, October 15th.

6th Social Studies

This week we will cover a variety of civilizations and cultures, all of which will eventually tie in with our Bible lessons in religion class. We will study the Assyrian and Persian empires, and then the cultural contributions of the Phoenicians. The last lessons of the unit will go into the history and beliefs of the Hebrew people.

7th Religion

The students will have their test on unit 1 this Wednesday, October 8th. Then, we will begin unit 2 which will cover the book of Exodus, starting with the life of Moses.

7th Social Studies

On Tuesday the students will present the projects they have been working on this past week, on various topics from colonial America. Then we will get into studying the original 13 English Colonies, beginning with the New England region. On Friday, we will read about the Salem Witch Trials and the lessons to be learned from this sad period of history, especially why it is important to be an upstander and not allow people to be targeted because of their differences.

8th Religion

On Monday the students will begin their unit 1 review, and the test will be on Friday October 10th. Then, on Tuesday the students will present their Tough Times Tool Kit projects.

8th Social Studies

Early this week we will wrap up studying the West and how all the changes caused hardship for Native Americans. Then, we will shift gears and begin studying the growth of industry and corporations in the U.S. during the Gilded Age.
