Mrs. Skoch’s Updates for the Week of January 26, 2026

Happy National Lutheran Schools Week! I hope everyone has stayed safe and warm this weekend during the storm. Here are the updates for this week.

6th, 7th, & 8th Religion Classes

Since this is National Lutheran Schools Week, each of the classes will be working on an activity related to this year’s theme, Let’s Make a Joyful Noise. There are no memory quizzes this week.

6th Social Studies

This week we are wrapping up Topic 5- Ancient Chinese Civilizations. The test will be on Friday, January 30th. The students will then work on research projects about different cultural contributions from Ancient China.

7th Social Studies

Last week we studied the political differences of John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, and this week we will go more in depth with how the nation changed during those years, and how our foreign policy was shaped. To supplement the unit, we will watch the National Geographic documentary about the Lewis and Clark Expedition, which shows the challenges they faced and how the nation was forever changed.

8th Social Studies

This week we are continuing to study World War I. The students will do an in-class trench warfare reenactment. Forming trenches with desks and using paper and “ammo,” each student will be assigned to represent a specific country and will enter the “war” at a certain time, to illustrate how the alliance system worked. Then, we will look at how the United States entry into the war shifted the scales in favor of the Allies.
