Welcome back to a new week! Here are the updates for my classes this week.
6th Religion
This week we will be studying the life of Elijah and then his miraculous entry into heaven. We will finish the week studying Jeroboam, the first king of the Northern Kingdom after Israel and Judah split. The memory verse this week is Psalm 111:5.
6th Social Studies
In social studies, the students will be researching important inventions from Ancient China, and then we will move into our next unit on Ancient African Kingdoms. We will start by studying Mansa Musa, one of the richest men in the history of the world, and then King Ezana, one of the earliest Christian monarchs in history.
7th Religion
This week we will wrap up unit 4 with a lesson on the book of Ezra, which will teach us about what the people of Judah experienced when they returned from the Babylonian Exile. The test on unit 4 will be next Friday, February 13th. The memory verse this week is Jeremiah 29:11.
7th Social Studies
In social studies, we will be studying the presidencies of James Madison and James Monroe, focusing on the War of 1812, and how the U.S. started to change during the early and mid 1800s. The test on Topic 5 will be on Wednesday, February 11th.
8th Religion
This week the students will wrap up unit 4 after we study the books of Jonah and Nehemiah. The test on unit 4 will be on Friday February 13th. The memory verse this week is Psalm 56:11.
8th Social Studies
In social studies, we will learn about how the Americans helped the Allies win World War I, and then we will study the Treaty of Versailles and President Wilson’s plan for peace. We will wrap up the unit looking at how World War I directly contributed to the start of World War II twenty years later. The test on Topic 12 will be on Wednesday, February 11th.
