Mrs. Leahy’s Lovely Kindergarten Class – Week of 1/5

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas break and a great start to the New Year!

Joke of the Week: What’s a cow’s favorite night of the year?

 Language Arts- This week we will complete Unit 4 of our Wonder’s series. Our essential question is, How can people help to make your community better? We will read, Roadwork. We will learn two new sight words – ‘my’ and ‘must’ and we will focus on the long and short “Ee” sound.  We will begin word families that have the short ‘a’, ex. -at, -an, -ad. In grammar, we will continue to learn about adjectives and this week we will use numbers to describe.

Language Arts Centers- This weeks centers will be CVC words and their word families.

Math- This week we will begin Lesson 7 – Represent Numbers 6 to 10 with Objects.

Math Centers- We will practice addition and subtraction problems.

Jesus Time- We will  read about Jesus growing up and all the wonderful stories he told and miracles he preformed.

Social Studies: We will learn about who Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is and begin working on a very exciting class project.
