Mrs. Holder’s Update for the Week of January 5, 2026

Welcome Back!
I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful start to the new year!

Here’s what students will be working on this week:

5th Grade Social Studies
This week begins the first of two weeks dedicated to the Job Fair Project, while we continue our study of Life in the Colonies from the textbook. Students will finish Lesson 2, focusing on the daily lives of artisans and craftspeople, and we will begin Lesson 3, which introduces the topic of slavery in the colonies.

5th Grade Science
We will be learning about how humans impact the biosphere, with a special emphasis on endangered animals. Students will begin a short research project exploring endangered species and ways they can help bring awareness to this important issue.

5th Grade Religion
Our focus will continue on God raising up leaders, with special attention on David. Students will discuss themes of forgiveness, including when David spares Saul and when David becomes king.

6th Grade Math
Students will be learning about quartiles and box-and-whisker plots. There will be a quiz on Wednesday covering both topics.

6th Grade Earth Science
We will spend Monday through Wednesday reviewing the natural Resources unit. The unit test will take place on Thursday.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I’m looking forward to a great week back with the students!
