Mrs. Holder’s Update for the Week of December 8, 2025

Reminder: Our 5th Grade Cross-Curriculum Christmas Around the World Celebration will take place this Friday at 12:30 PM.  If you would like to attend, please contact Mrs. Llanos.

5th Grade Social Studies

This week we will begin Unit 4 – Life in the Colonies, focusing on comparing and contrasting the New England, Middle, and Southern Colonies.  Students will also be introduced to our Colonial Job Fair Project beginning in January. For this project, each student will choose a colonial occupation, research what daily life looked like in that role, and then create a way to “recruit” others to join that occupation.

5th Grade Science

Students will complete the Geosphere Cookie Extraction activity and begin Lesson 11, exploring how human activity affects the atmosphere, with emphasis on pollution and climate change.

5th Grade Religion

We will begin Lesson 20 – Eli’s Death and the Ark of the Covenant.  This lesson focuses on how God hears our prayers and how He calls us to serve Him through His Word.

6th Grade Math

There will be a Percent Unit Test on Tuesday. This assessment will include:

  • Converting fractions to decimals
  • Converting decimals to percent
  • Percent word problems 

We will then begin our Statistics Unit, focusing on mean, median, and mode.

6th Grade Earth Science

We will finish Section 5.2 and have a vocabulary quiz on Wednesday covering Sections 5.1 and 5.2.  We will then begin Section 5.3 – Alternative Resources.
