Mrs. Holder’s Update for the Week of April 20, 2026

5th Grade Social Studies
This week, we will be focusing on Lesson 3 (The Bill of Rights) and Lesson 4 (African American and women’s rights to vote). A unit test is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28. A study guide will be distributed this Monday to help students prepare.

5th Grade Science
We will wrap up our Planet and Alien presentations on Monday—students have done a fantastic job! We will then begin our final unit on Natural Disasters. Each lesson will last approximately four days, followed by a quiz on the next school day. Please expect a quiz about once a week moving forward. This week’s focus is on tornadoes, with a quiz scheduled for Monday, April 27.

5th Grade Religion
The Unit 5 test will take place on Monday. The study guide was provided last week and is available on Google Classroom.
We will then begin Unit 6: Jesus Teaches Us, focusing on how Jesus teaches, preaches, heals, and performs miracles. Students will learn how His actions guide us in our daily lives.
The verse for this Friday’s quiz is:
“No one can say ‘Jesus is Lord’ except in the Holy Spirit.” – 1 Corinthians 12:3

6th Grade Math
Students will have a one-step equations quiz on Tuesday. We will then move on to two-step equations, with a quiz scheduled for Friday.

6th Grade Earth Science
On Monday, students will construct their Volcano Bloom Balls, and the Chapter 9 test will take place on Tuesday. Review materials were provided and reviewed last week.  We will then begin Chapter 10, starting with the topic of weathering.
