Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:
ELA: This week we will finish our class read aloud, Frindle by Andrew Clements. There will be a spelling test on 10-17. We will be focusing on the skill of plot and characterization. We will also have our first ELA project where students will be renaming their own ordinary object, just like Nick renamed the pencil the frindle. The project is 2 parts, an advertisement poster and commercial script. This project will be completed at home and is due on 10-23. In grammar we will be learning about complex sentances.
Math: This week in Math we begin Unit 2: Multiplication and Division Problems, Module 3: Interpret and solve problem situations. We will be applying our basic multiplication facts to word problems. There will be a quiz only for Module 3 on Wednesday 10-15. Helpful handouts, videos, charts, reteach pages, and the HW can all be found on Google Classroom and are excellent resources.
Religion: In religion this week we begin Unit 1-God Creates the World and Calls a Nation. We will be focusing on the book of Genesis.
Social Studies: This week in S.S. we continue unit 2, Three Worlds Meet. We will be learning about the Algonquin, Iroquois, and Europeans as the Americas begin to be colonized. There will be a vocabulary quiz on 10-22, words will be sent home this week.
Science: This week we will finish our first unit of science called Waves of Sound. We will be reviewing and completing a review sheet for the test on 10-16.
Blessings,
Ms. Stainkamp
