Hello Fabulous Fourth Grade Families!

We are going on another field trip! We will be going to the Hicksville Fire Department Headquarters on Thursday November 13th. We will also write letters of thanks and appreciation for the firefighters. Please be sure to return a signed premission slip by Thursday 11/6, this is a free trip. 

Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:

ELA: This week we will be continuing to read our class read-aloud, The Spiderwick Chronicles. We will be working on the skill of characterization. We will be starting our personal narrative writings. Our drafts will be due by Friday. Students will need to write at least 3 paragraphs. In grammar we will be starting our unit on nouns. There will be a spelling test on 11-13 based on words from The Spiderwick Chronicles.

Math: This week in Math we continue Unit 2: Multiplication and Division Problems, Module 6 and 7 have been combined. We will be learning how to divide muti digit numbers by one digit numbers. There will be a quiz on 11-12 and a test on 11-13. Helpful handouts, videos, charts, reteach pages, and the HW can all be found on Google Classroom and are excellent resources.

Religion: In religion this week we begin Unit 1-God Creates the World and Calls a Nation. We will be focusing on the book of Genesis.

Social Studies: This week in S.S. we will finish unit 2, Three Worlds Meet. We will be learning about the Algonquin, Iroquois, and Europeans as the Americas begin to be colonized. There will be a S.S. test from chapter 2 on 11/7. A review sheet will be going home this week.

Science: This week we will be using Mystery Science to learn about how we can make a sound machine. We will be building our sound machines in the STEAM lab the week of 11/3.
