Fabulous Fourth Graders Week of March 2nd – March 6th

Hello Fabulous Fourth Grade Families!

We have an exciting week ahead! This week is Read Across America Week. We will be going to the Scholastic Book fair on Tuesday 3/3. Additionally there will be a school wide March Reading Madness Challenge. When a student finishes a book they will complete a Book Review, in addition to a ticket in the book shield class jar, students will get their book and name on the class bookshelf. The class with the most books read will receive a prize!

Also, I am excited to say that our snowed out field trip to Raynham Hall has been rescheduled to Tuesday 3/24!

Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:

ELA: This week we will finish our next class read-aloud, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume. We will be focusing on the sequence of events in our text. There will be a spelling test on 3/6 and a comprehension test on 3/10. In grammar we will continue our study of verbs. In writing we will be working on our second argument essays. We will be arguing if students should have more or less recess? A 5 paragraph essay draft is due by 3/6.

Math: This week in Math we finish Module 12: Converting Fractions to Decimals. There will be a quiz for all of Module 12 on 3/2 and a test on 3/3. We will also begin Module 13: Using Fractions to Understand Angles.

Religion: In religion we will be continuing our study of the book of Exodus.

Social Studies: In S.S. we will finish Chapter 4, New York in the Revolution. There will be a Chapter 4 test on Wednesday 3/4.

Science: This week we begin our next science unit, The Human Machine. We will begin to learn about the different organs and systems in the human body, and start our life size human bodies.
