Dear Parents,
We had a fun week learning about Groundhog Day and can’t wait to find out if Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow Monday morning. If he does see his shadow, that means more cold days ahead. If he doesn’t, Spring 🌺 will come sooner. More of the children think that Spring is on its way. We will find out on Monday morning if their predictions were correct!
This coming week, the children will learn how to recognize, sound out, and write the letter G for groundhog. We will also be celebrating black history month by learning about Mae Jemison, the first black woman in space. We will learn about snowy owls and make a cute craft to decorate our classroom.
We will continue our Science unit on Arctic Animals by learning how animals, such as polar bears, keep warm with their thick layer of blubber. The children will do a fun science experiment demonstrating how Arctic animals stay warm using “blubber gloves” made from Crisco, plastic bags, and ice water.
