Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:
ELA: This week we begin our next read aloud, Frindle by Andrew Clements. There will be a spelling test on 10-17. We will be focusing on the skill of plot. We will also continue our first formal writing activity, our Winn-Dixie Scrapbooks. Our scrapbooks will be due on Friday October 10th, and will be counted as both a test grade and a writing grade.
Math: This week in Math we begin Unit 2: Multiplication and Division Problems, Module 3: Interpret and solve problem situations. We will be applying our basic multiplication facts to word problems. There will be a quiz only for Module 3 on Wednesday 10-15. Helpful handouts, videos, charts, reteach pages, and the HW can all be found on Google Classroom and are excellent resources.
Religion: In religion this week we begin Unit 1-God Creates the World and Calls a Nation. We will be focusing on the book of Genesis.
Social Studies: This week in S.S. we begin unit 2, Three Worlds Meet. We will be learning about the Algonquin, Iroquois, and Europeans as the Americas begin to be colonized.
Science: This week we will begin our first unit of science called Waves of Sound. Our driving question is why are some sounds high and some sounds low?
Blessings,
Ms. Stainkamp
