Last week, we began discussing the places in “Our Community.” This week, we learn about the community helpers that work together to help make our community thrive. We will explore a number of different careers and the important roles they play in our community. In addition, we have a few parent volunteers who will be coming into our classroom to teach us about their work and how they are helping others in the community. We will role play many of these community helpers in our centers at playtime. It should be a very interesting experience.
This week, we will also enjoy the autumn seasonal theme of scarecrows. We will talk about the role of the scarecrow on a farm and create a scarecrow art project using geometric shapes. We might also work together to make a life sized scarecrow for our room.
Our other core concepts of the week are: the color blue, the letter Hh, the number ten, the ten frame and our math concept is: Which is shorter/longer? Our ABCs of Faith is H is for Holy, Heaven, Harvest and Happy. Our song of praise is, “If You’re Thankful and You Know It.”
