Second Grade – Week of September 8, 2025 – By Mrs. Nekota for Mrs. Ryan

Our second graders are truly wonderful. They are progressing well and are a pleasure to teach.

Many thanks to all parents and guardians for the return of completed homework each day. Two reminders:

  • Please initial and return your child’s planner each day
  • Please initial and return your child’s graded work each day for his or her portfolio

Finally, there will be awards on Friday for students who can tie their own shoes. Thank you for helping your child at home with this skill.

During our first full week of school we will be

  • Writing personal narratives with titles, details, and closings about summer memories
  • Comprehending stories we read and hear by responding to wh- questions
  • Completing Lessons 1-5 of Module 1, Fluency for Addition and Subtraction Within 20, including doubles facts and the making-ten strategy, in our math books and related supplementary materials

  • Learning about the significance of September 11, 2001, and being a patriot
  • Adopting the observe-wonder-learn model and making curiosity wheels in science
