Welcome to all second graders and their families! My name is Mrs. Nekota, and I am very much looking forward to being Mrs. Ryan’s leave-replacement teacher.
During our first week of the school year, we will be
- Learning more about our Lord and how to communicate with Him through prayer
- Discussing and complying with behavioral expectations
- Practicing kindness and friendship to all
- Listening, speaking, reading, and writing across curriculum areas
- Identifying and using the letters of the alphabet, particularly consonants
- Reviewing our recognition and knowledge of single-digit numbers and applying our knowledge when adding and subtracting
- Reflecting on our names and personal characteristics and preferences
- Demonstrating knowledge of the American flag, pledge, and a patriotic song
- Recalling and writing about our favorite summer memories
- Developing an awareness of basic geographic terms and concepts
- Recognizing and using our five senses
- Taking beginning-of-year ELA benchmark assessments
