Welcome back to a new week! Here are the updates for this week.
6th Religion
In religion this week, we will be studying the Tower of Babel, and how the languages were mixed up, and then God calling Abram and the promises He made to Abram. The memory verse this week is Psalm 36:5.
6th Social Studies
This week we will get into the neolithic era, the agricultural revolution, and then the process of going from a small farming village to becoming a civilization. On Friday we will begin reviewing Topic 1. The test will be on Wednesday, September 24th.
7th Religion
On Monday, we will finish studying the Great Flood and how God showed mercy to Noah and His family. Then, we will begin studying Abram and his family. The memory verse this week is Psalm 30:10.
7th Social Studies
On Monday, we will learn about the earliest European exploration of the Americas. Then we will begin reviewing Topic 1. The test will be on Monday, September 22nd.
8th Religion
The main focus of the lessons this week is that God’s will is always right and good, but we often think we know better. We will study the construction of the Tower of Babel and the jarring events that led to the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. The memory verse this week is 2 Chronicles 30:9b. Students should study from the Google Classroom.
8th Social Studies
Instead of waiting until the end of the unit, I moved the Topic 9 research project to this week. Each group of students is assigned to research one of the earliest African American elected officials. They will present in class on Tuesday. Then, we will learn about the aftermath of Reconstruction, and how the Jim Crow era began in the South. The test on Topic 9 will be Wednesday, September 24th.
