Welcome back, everyone! We have a full week ahead of us, so here are the updates.
6th Religion
This week we will learn about how the Ten Plagues affected the Egyptians and how the Israelites prepared for the 10th plague with the Passover feast. We will also learn about how the Passover ties in with the Lord’s Supper. On Friday, we will switch gears and acknowledge the anniversary of Martin Luther starting the Reformation in 1517. The memory verse this week is Exodus 6: 6-7.
6th Social Studies
In social studies, we will learn about life under the Pharaohs of Egypt and the culture of Ancient Egypt. The students will also get to mummify apple slices using the same process as the Ancient Egyptians. They are all very excited for this!
7th Religion
On Monday, we will learn about the elements of modern churches and worship services that come directly from the Tabernacle and the Levites. Then we will study how God provided healing to His people in the wilderness, and then how God used an unlikely woman to save His people during the spy mission to Jericho. On Friday, we will switch gears and acknowledge the anniversary of Martin Luther starting the Reformation in 1517. The memory verse this week is Psalm 95:6.
7th Social Studies
On Tuesday, the students will have their test on Topic 2. Then we will start Topic 3, which will begin with the French and Indian War. We will learn how this name is a bit of a misnomer, and also led directly to the Colonies declaring independence from Britain.
8th Religion
This week we will learn about the Israelites constructing the golden calf while Moses was on Mount Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments, and then how God gave very specific instructions on the construction of the Tabernacle, which was to remind them that He was always with them. On Friday, we will switch gears and acknowledge the anniversary of Martin Luther starting the Reformation in 1517. The memory verse this week is John 1:17.
8th Social Studies
The students will have their test on Topic 10 on Wednesday, then they will begin their Topic 10 research projects, which will cover lesser known entrepreneurs of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They will present their work next week.
