Hello, everyone! Here are the updates for this week.
6th Religion
In Religion this week we will learn about God giving Moses the Ten Commandments, and how they apply to our lives in the present day. Then we will study how God provided food and water for the Israelites while they were in the wilderness. There is no memory quiz this week.
6th Social Studies
On Monday, we will study Egypt’s neighbor to the south, Kush, modern day Sudan and Ethiopia, and how the two cultures influenced one another. Then, we will review for the test on Topic 3. The test is on Friday, November 7th.
7th Religion
We will finish Unit 2 on Monday with a lesson on Rahab helping the Israelite spies during the conquest of Jericho. Then, we will review for the test on Unit 2, which will be on Monday, November 10th. There is no memory quiz this week.
7th Social Studies
This week we will learn about all of the taxes and sanctions placed on the colonies by the British government and how that led to colonists taking up arms and beginning the fight for independence. The students will complete an assignment on the Declaration of Independence to help prep them for the lessons next week.
8th Religion
On Monday, we will study the conquest of Jericho and Canaan. Then, we will review for the test on Unit 2, which will be on Monday, November 10th. There is no memory quiz this week.
8th Social Studies
On Tuesday, the students will present their research projects on inventors and entrepreneurs of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Then, we will start Topic 11, which will get in to the Progressive Era of politics and social change. As a reminder, we have our trip to the Anne Frank exhibit on Friday, which we are all very much looking forward to.
