Mrs. Skoch’s Updates for the Week of November 17, 2025

Welcome back, everyone! As this is the last full week before Thanksgiving break, we have lots to do. Here are the updates.

6th Religion

This week in religion, we will learn more about the elements of the Tabernacle, and how they apply to us today. Then, we will study the spy mission to the Promised Land, and Israel’s eventual crossing of the Jordan River into the Promised Land. The memory verse this week is Proverbs 3:5.

6th Social Studies

On Wednesday, the students will present their projects on various Egyptian pharaohs. Then, we will begin Topic 4: Early Civilizations of India. We will start by looking at how the geography of the mountains and rivers affected the very first civilizations along the Indus River.

7th Religion

This week we will study two of the most famous Judges of Israel- Samson and Samuel. The two men could not be more different from one another, but they both show us that God is the true source of our strength and wisdom. The memory verse this week is Deuteronomy 11:13.

7th Social Studies

On Monday, we will wrap up our study of the American Revolution and what actually brought the Patriots to victory over the powerful British military. The test on Topic 3 will be on Friday, November 21st.

8th Religion

On Monday, we will finish learning about Gideon, and then we will switch gears and study the Book of Ruth. Ruth’s story takes place during the time of the Judges, and contains so many things that foreshadow Jesus. Toward the end of the week, we will study Eli, Samuel’s mentor, and what happened to the Ark of the Covenant. The memory verse this week is Ruth 4:14-15.

8th Social Studies

This week we will focus entirely on Progressive reforms- political reforms, the Progressive Presidents, early civil rights leaders, and the women’s movement.
