Welcome back to a new (hopefully full) week! Here are the updates for each of the classes.
6th Religion
This week the students will wrap up unit 4 with a lesson on the exiled people of Judah returning to Jerusalem. Then, they will review for the test, which will be on Monday, March 9th.
6th Social Studies
This week we will focus on the two most well known ancient Greek city-states, Athens and Sparta. We will compare and contrast the forms of government, the lifestyles, and how each economy worked.
7th Religion
This week in religion class will focus on Jesus’ childhood- His birth, fleeing to Egypt as a toddler, and then the incident with His family at the temple when He was 12.
7th Social Studies
The first half of this week we will study the social, political, and economic impact of Andrew Jackson’s presidency. We will especially focus on the impact of the Indian Removal Act and Trail of Tears, for not only the Native Americans, but also how this further expanded slavery in the South. Toward the end of the week, we will switch gears and begin studying the Westward Movement and the settlement of the Oregon Country.
8th Religion
The students in eighth grade will work on constructing their church designs this week. They should bring in any extra supplies they think they might need.
8th Social Studies
To start the week, we will look at the changing culture and society during the 1920s, and then we will study how many of these changes impacted the economy. On Friday, we will begin learning about the causes and effects of the Great Depression.
