I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Here are the updates for this week.
6th Religion
This week we will study the time of the Judges. We will focus on Jephthah, whose story reminds us that while none of us is perfect, God will still use us to further His kingdom. Then, we will learn about the last judge of Israel, Samuel, whose entire life was dedicated to God. There is no memory verse this week.
6th Social Studies
The students will have their test on Topic 4- Ancient India on Wednesday, December 10th. Then, they will work on researching how the modern day countries we are studying this year celebrate Christmas. They will present their projects next week.
7th Religion
This week the students will review for their test on Unit 3, which will be on Monday, December 15th. There is no memory verse this week.
7th Social Studies
In social studies, we will study how the nation adopted our Constitution, the ideas that influenced it, and the importance of the Bill of Rights. To reinforce the Bill of Rights, the students will work on projects illustrating one of the rights guaranteed to all citizens. They may write and perform a song or a skit, draw a comic, create a cartoon or video, or in some cases, choreograph a dance. They will present their work next week.
8th Religion
In religion, the students will wrap up Unit 3 by studying the wisdom and life lessons of King Solomon. Then, they will review for their test, which will be next Tuesday, December 16th. Next week the students will also receive the outline for their Trimester 2 Project: Calling All Workers. The students will research and present how they can serve God and others through a secular career that interests them. That will be due after the break on Tuesday, January 6th. There is no memory verse this week.
8th Social Studies
The students have their test on Topic 11 on Monday, December 8th. Then, they will do more in depth research on the early civil rights leaders we studied in this unit. They will also study the work of Martin Luther King, Jr. Then, the students will put together research presentations, which they will share in class next week.
