Fabulous Fourth Graders Week of May 18th – May 22nd

Hello Fabulous Fourth Grade Families!

I truly cannot believe that this weekend is Memorial Day Weekend! As a reminder we will not have school Thursday May 21 – Monday May 25th. Classes will resume Tuesday May 26th.

It is essential that students bring a charged chromebook to school everyday.

Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:

ELA: This week we will continue to read Holes by Louis Sachar. We will be focusing on character development, and plot. We will have a comprehension test and spelling test on May 20th. In writing we will begin publishing our fictional/fantasy narratives. Students will be working on creating a picture book of their story. In grammar we continue our unit on adjectives and adverbs.

Math: This week we will begin and complete Module 19: Unit Conversions. Be sure to check google classroom for helpful handouts and videos that review the steps to solve the equations for the module There will be a quiz on Wednesday 5/20. There will be no test.

Religion: In religion we will continue Unit 3: God rises up leaders.

Social Studies: In social studies we will continue Unit 7: NY transforms. We will begin talking about Ellis Island and Immigration. Our Ellis Island project will be completed at home, and is due by 5/29.

Science: This week we will be in the STEAM lab learning about different forms of energy, and how energy is transferred.

Blessings,
Ms. Stainkamp
