Hello Fabulous Fourth Grade Families!
We have an exciting week ahead! Our school wide March Reading Madness Challenge continues. When a student finishes a book they will complete a Book Review, in addition to a ticket in the book shield class jar, students will get their book and name on the class bookshelf. The class with the most books read will receive a prize!
Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:
ELA: This week we will finish our next class read-aloud, From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E. L. Konigsburg. We will be focusing on the character motive, as well as the plot. There will be a spelling test and brief book comprehension test on 4/1. In grammar we will continue our study of verbs. In writing we will write a narrative paragraph a day.
*After Break we will be starting I Survived the Battle of Gettysburg 1863 by Lauren Tarshis. We do not have a class set of the book. If your child would like to read along, please bring in a copy of the book.
Math: This week we will finish Module 14: adding and subtracting with like denominators. Be sure to check google classroom for helpful handouts and videos that review the vocabulary for the module. This module is heavy on vocabulary. There will be a quiz on 3/31 and a test on 4/1.
Religion: In religion we will be working on learning about Holy Week, and Easter.
Social Studies: In S.S. We continue chapter 5- A New Nation. We will be learning about how our national government functions, and will be talking about the War of 1812.
Science: This week we continue our science unit, The Human Machine. We will begin to learn about the different organs and systems in the human body, and complete our life size human bodies.
Wishing you all a very Happy Easter! Enjoy the must needed and deserved break.
Blessings,
Ms. Stainkamp
