3rd Grade News – January 26, 2026

Important Information

NOTE: I gave this week’s spelling words to the class on Friday 1/23, in case we have a snowday or two . The test will still be on Friday 1/30.

Scholastic Book orders went home on Tuesday. They are due back by Wednesday, January 28th. Our class code is GBZYH. Here is the link to the book club: Scholastic Book Club

We are participating in Nassau County’s Valetines for Veterans,  We will be creating Valentine’s Day cards thanking veterans for their service.

Band has started for a few of our classmates. Please remember to bring your instrument to school for both lessons and band rehearsal.

This week is Trinity Lutheran’s Spirit Week. The schedule for dressing is as follows:

Monday – Pajama Day

Tuesday – Joyful Day: Wear clothing that is brightly colored or has a “loud” pattern

Wednesday – Dress Your Best

Thursday – Zoom Meeting: Wear dressy on top and casual on bottom

Friday – Future/Past Self Day: Dress like you picture yourself to be in the future or how you were in the past as a toddler

Academics

Math: We have finished our unit on Multiplication and Division. This week we are starting Module 9 in Math. It focuses on addition and subtraction strategies.We will also continue to practice our multiplication and division facts.

ELA  We are not doing a new story this week. We are continuing our read aloud The One and Only Ivan. Our grammar focus will be on past and future tense verbs. Our Spelling words this week are the following:

Social Studies: This past week we read books about famous African Americans. We took notes and this week we will finish presenting our information on a graphic organizer which we will display in the hallway.

Science: Students are continuing to analyze data from dinosaur fossils in order to provide evidence about the appearance and behavior of those dinosaurs when they were living. We will be in the STEAM lab this week investigating fossils.
