Welcome everyone to the 2022-2023 school year! I am so excited for you all to be in my class and to get to know everyone!

This week we begin the first theme in our Big Day Curriculum – Ready for School. Our ELA topic for this week will be “My School”. We will read My New School, Owen, The Kissing Hand, and Annie, Bea, And Chi Chi Dolores. Our vocabulary words will be: class, school, name, and teacher.

For math this week we will review the color red and circle. We will also introduce the numbers 0 and 1. We will begin taking a look at patterns this week as well using manipulatives.

Our science lessons for most of the month will revolve around apples. This week we will explore the parts of an apple on our science table and read about how apples grow. On Friday we will enjoy applesauce at snack time.

For Social Studies this week we will be reviewing the rules for school and rules for playground safety as well as what to do during a fire drill.

For Jesus time this week we will begin discussing Creation. We will learn a prayer that we will recite for the year each day during our morning meeting: Thank you God for this new day, in my school to work and play. Please be with me all day long, in every story, game, and song. May all the happy things we do, make you our Father happy too. Amen.

Please remember that sneakers are REQUIRED footwear for playground and classroom safety. We visit the playground once in the morning and once in the afternoon.
