Hello Parents! I hope everyone enjoyed this beautiful weekend.

We are beginning a new theme this week, “Our Community” and starting the first unit which is called “Places We Go.” BIG idea: I visit many places in my community. Knowledge Focus: Children learn about the role of the community in their lives and the importance of good citizenship. Social-Emotional Focus: Responsibility. Vocabulary words for the week include: apartments, hospital, block, library, building, neighborhood, community, park, firehouse and sidewalk. Math vocabulary words include: above, next to, location, route, near and through. Social Studies words include: chore, job, money and responsibility. Science words include: energy, fire, heat and light.
We will be learning the letter Gg, color pink and the number 9. We will also take a look at simple maps and practice speaking with positional words. We will be reading the books “Lola at the Library”, “Knuffle Bunny” and “A Goodnight Walk”. For Jesus time, we will be learning about Moses and continue praying before snack and lunch using our thank you prayer. Since Wednesday is Veterans Day, we will be reading the “Hooray For Veteran’s’ Scholastic weekly reader. We will continue talking about the theme of Fall and discussing the colors of the changing leaves and why they are changing. As a class craft, the children will create their own community.
There will be no specials this week due to school being closed on Wednesday.
