Hello Parents! What a beautiful weekend this has been! God is truly blessing us with such amazing weather in November. However, please remember to pack accordingly for your child, as we will continue to go outside as long as the weather is above 37 degrees.

Important Upcoming Dates & Reminders:

  1. Tuesday, November 8th is picture day! Our class is scheduled at 9:00 am. Children that are only MWF will be asked to come in briefly for their pictures. Please be sure to arrive on time.
  2. There will be no school on Friday, 11/11/22 due to Veterans Day!
  3. Friday, 11/23 is our School-wide Thanksgiving Feast! More details to come!
  4. There will be no school Thursday 11/24 and Friday 11/25 due to Thanksgiving Recess.

We are starting theme 3 titled “Our Community” and unit 1 titled “Places We Go”. BIG Idea: Children learn about the role of the community in their lives and the importance of good citizenship. Social-Emotional Focus: Responsibility. The theme vocabulary words include: apartments, block, building, community, firehouse, hospital, library, neighborhood, park and sidewalk. Math vocabulary words include: above, location, near, next to, route and through. For this entire theme, I will be asking for parent community worker volunteers to come in and discuss their jobs with the class! Please keep an eye out on our dojo for more information.

We will be learning the letter Gg, color gray, number 9 and review shapes. We will be reading the books “Lola at the Library”, “Knuffle Bunny”, “A Goodnight Walk” and “Mama Zooms”. We will also be reading the “Happy Veterans Day” Scholastic weekly reader. For our afternoon instruction, we will continue to complete a fall booklet that focuses on developing listening comprehension skills, and complete a color review leaf sheet. Every Friday, we will continue to recap the week in our Journals.

We will start talking about squirrels and scarecrow this week! We will complete a craft for each topic and make a Veterans Day ripped paper heart craft. These will be displayed on the walls and posted on the dojo asap! We will also continue to use the leaves we collected for our sensory bin. We will have acorns in them and the children will have to use tweezers to take them out! This will help their fine motor skills.

For music and movement, we will continue to sing our Thanksgiving song titled “Thank Him” and dance to a guided Turkey dance using GoNoodle.com!

For Jesus time, we will continue to sing the song “Jesus Loves Me” and begin singing a new song for Thanksgiving called “Thank Him” which we thank God for all he has done for us. We will also continue to recite our new prayer for the month of November. Lastly, Mrs. Gonzalez will teach our Jesus time curriculum, voyages 9 and 10: “Thank you for church”.
