Hello Parents! Where has the time gone?! I can’t believe it is already almost Thanksgiving break!! I can’t wait for our Thanksgiving feast this Wednesday. Thank you all so much for donating any items as well as sending in extra money for any student in need. It means the world to Mrs. Gonzalez and myself.
We are continuing with the theme, “Our Community” and starting the third unit which is called “Things That Move.” BIG idea: Transportation is for doing jobs and getting around my community. Knowledge focus: Children learn about the role of the community in their lives and the importance of good citizenship. Social-Emotional focus: Responsibility. The theme vocabulary words include: driver, passenger, safety, traffic, transportation, travel and vehicle.
We will be learning the letter Ii and #11. We will be reviewing all colors and shapes attached in the homework packet. We will be reading the books “I’m Your Bus”, “Carlo Likes Counting”, and “Dig Dig Digging”. For Jesus time, we will be learning about Samuel (thank you for school) and David and Johnathan (thank you for friends). We will also continue our thankful prayer before snack and lunch. We will read the “A Heart Full of Thanks” Scholastic Weekly reader book.
As a class craft, the children will be doing I is for Indian Corn. The students will paint the I using red, yellow and orange paint and q-tips. We will also create a turkey using construction paper and writing what we are thankful for on each feather. Lastly, we will create a Thanksgiving turkey bandana on Wednesday after our feast.
