Hello Parents! What a wonderful snow day Friday was to kick start the month of January! I hop everyone stayed warm and cozy inside. Please remember to continue filling out the daily attestations upon arrival.

We are continuing theme 4 “Awesome Animals” and starting unit 2 “Animal Homes”. BIG Idea: Animals have a home just like me. Knowledge Focus: Children learn about life science through the exploration of animals and animal life cycles. Social-Emotional Focus: Attention. The theme vocabulary words include: burrow, habitat, hibernate, hive, nest, tunnel, web and woods. Math vocabulary words include: after and before.

We will be learning the letter Ll, number 12 and continue to review shapes and colors. We will be reading the books “Animals Homes”, “Big Earth, Little Me”, “Bear Snores On”, “Click Clack, Quackity-Quack” and a penguin story. We will discuss Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s life and legacy towards the end of the week due to his upcoming birthday on Monday 1/17/22. It is very important for the students to hear about such an influential public figure.

We will continue talking about animals and all of the different habitats. This week we will also take a closer look at penguins and learn some interesting facts! We will complete a L is for Lion letter craft, a snowman name craft and a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. class craft.

For Jesus time, we will discuss Jesus as a little boy and take a closer look at how he grew up. Mrs. Gonzalez will read a book to the class regarding this topic.
