Week 20

We are halfway through the school year and this week is Lutheran Schools Week! We are focusing on Jesus Christ being our rock. On Thursday, we are all wearing red to show unity for our school.

On Monday, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation came and spoke to us about vertebrates. It was a great opportunity for our class to learn more about these types of animals. As such, we are taking our chapter 2 science test on Wednesday, January 25th.

In math we are continuing our study on division. We are having a quiz on Friday.

In Social Studies, we are finishing up our study of Canada. We also will be writing letters to our new president.

In ELA we our reading Yonder Mountain A Cherokee Tale. We are working on the skills Compare and Contrast and Story Message. We are also working on the target strategy Analyze/Evaluate. Our vocabulary words are examined, peak, fondly, steep rugged, mist, pausing, and pleaded. We are also continuing to work on homophones and homographs. Our spelling words are all contractions: I’d, he’s, haven’t, doesn’t, let’s, there’s, wouldn’t, what’s, she’s, aren’t,hasn’t, couldn’t, he’d, they’re, can’t, isn’t, we’re, and weren’t. We will be taking all ELA tests on Friday.
