Week 9
“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” – Margaret Fuller
On Monday, we are having a Fall Party. Also, it is Unity Day at Trinity, so everyone is encouraged to wear orange. This is a non-uniform day. Additionally, I know that many of the students will be participating in Halloween activities, so I have decided that I will not be assigning homework.
Friday is a professional development day, and as such, there is no school for the students.
We are having a Math Test on Wednesday. It will cover all of chapter three, specifically different strategies to solve multiplication problems.
In ELA, we are reading Roberto Clemente: Pride of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Our vocabulary words are stands, fans, score, league, slammed, polish, style, and pronounced. Our target skills this week are literal and non-literal meaning and cause and effect. Our target strategy is visualize. In grammar we are working with plural nouns with -s and -es. Our spelling words are slight, mild, sight, pie, mind, tie, pilot, might, lie, tight, blind, fight, die, midnight, find, night, silent, and frightening. Although we are studying everything in this story, I will not be testing on it. It is a short week, so I will only be testing spelling words on Thursday.
In Science we are investing how long different types of seeds take to germinate.Additionally, we will be reading about being a plant researcher in space.
We are reading about what it is like to work in Mexico in Social Studies.
For Religion this week we are having our last Books of the Bible test. Then we learn about the first table of the law. I will be distributing to the students the Ten Commandments and their meanings, as well as select bible verses to go with each commandment.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
Blessings,
Mrs. Perovich
