I hope everyone had a great weekend, I cannot believe it is the last week in October already!

Joke of the week: What is the most musical vegetable?

Language Arts- This week we will begin our second unit of our Journey’s series. We will be opening our lessons with syllables, beginning sounds, and by blending words. I will blend the sounds to say the word; for example, /j/ /am/ equals jam. We will also learn our newest sight words, “see” and “yes”, learn more vocabulary, and review the sounds for letter Aa & Mm. Our topic for the week is senses, and our essential question is: How do our senses help us learn about the world? We will read stories such as Listen, Listen, and My Five Senses. As we read our stories this week we will focus on comparing, contrasting, and clarifying details. In grammar we will learn about sensory words, such as bright, noisy, salty, wet, etc. Authors use these words to help us know how things look, sounds, taste, smell, or feel.

This week we will begin Language Arts Centers & Math Centers (we call math “Quick Math”)- This weeks center topics are: beginning sounds, rhyming, syllables and math it will be numbers up to 5. Language Arts Centers will be M-W-F & Math T-Th.

Math- This week we will finish Chapter 2: Compare Numbers to 5 and we will have a test on Thursday!

Science: We will talk about hibernation, and changes we see, feel, hear, touch and smell during fall.

Jesus Time- This week we will continue to enjoy Ms. Vollono’s children’s Bible!

Song of the Week: Good God Almighty by Crowder

Friday we will have “Orange Day” where everyone wears orange and we participate in Fall activities such as pumpkin picking, decorating pumpkins, crafts, and games!
