Hello, everyone! I hope you all have enjoyed a beautiful long weekend. Because of our long weekend and trip to Camp Herrlich this Friday, the updates for this week are short. FYI, none of the religion classes have memory verses this week.

6th Religion

This week we are finishing up Unit 1 with a lesson on Job, how we can follow his example of staying faithful to God in all circumstances, and how God will always take care of us in His time. The students will have their test on Unit 1 on Thursday, October 20th. We will review in class on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

6th Social Studies

Our study of Mesopotamian civilizations continues this week with lessons on the Assyrian and Persian Empires, and then the Phoenician civilization. Much of the content this week will tie in with upcoming Religion lessons.

7th Religion

This week we will be studying how to learn about the places, people, and terms in the Bible through our study of God’s promise to Abram/Abraham in Genesis 15.

7th Social Studies

In social studies this week, we will study the French, Dutch, and early English exploration and settlement of North America. Each of these countries had very different goals for their exploration, and we will look at the short and long term impacts on the culture and landscape of America and the American Indians.

8th Religion

On Tuesday, the students will present their Trimester 1 Projects: Tough Times Tool Kit. This project has taken a Biblical approach to social/emotional learning and coping with difficulties in life. Then, we will finish up Unit 1 by studying how the Passover ties in with the Lord’s Supper. The students will have their test on Unit 1 on Thursday, October 20th. We will review in class on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

8th Social Studies

Last week we started studying the early days of Reconstruction, which was greatly altered by the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. This week the students are working on researching the assassination conspirators, and they will present their research in class on Thursday. Next week we will finish up looking at Reconstruction, and the positive and many negative long term affects on the nation and African Americans.
