Welcome back to a new week! I can hardly believe it is already May. We have accomplished so much this school year, and I am excited for what is to come during the final minth of classes before we being reviewing for final exams. Here are the updates for this week.

6th Religion

This week we will spend the week studying the life and book of Daniel, and the lives of the people of Judah during the Babylonian captivity. Daniel is a great lesson in remaining faithful to God and trusting in His perfect will and His timing for our lives. The memory verse for this week is Jeremiah 29:11, another passage related to the Babylonian captivity that still very much applies to us today.

6th Social Studies

In social studies, sixth grade will be learning about the later years of the Roman empire, but first, they will learning about the history of Christianity and how it changed the Roman Empire, and ultimately the world. It is always interesting for the students to see how students in non-Christian schools learn about the life and ministry of Jesus. We are very privileged to be able to cross reference with what we have learned from the Bible.

7th Social Studies

The seventh grade students will be doing project based learning for chapter 10, The Era of Good Feelings. They will research the important figures from this time period, and determine whether this person is a hero or villain. The students will tentatively present their research to the class on Friday. Then, we will get into the mid 1800s, when the nation starts to divide over the issue of slavery.

8th Social Studies

In eighth grade, the students will start the week with their test on the Great Depression. Then, we will get into World War II. They have studied the Holocaust and the Japanese internment camps in language arts, so we will focus on the causes, battles, and impact of the war.

8th Religion

This week the students will be learning more about the time of the Babylonian captivity, which led to being held captive to the Persians. They will learn about how Esther saved her people from being massacred, and then about the prophecies of Ezra and how the people made it back home to Judah. The memory verse this week is Esther 4:14b. They will need to study from the Google Classroom, since it is not the entire verse.
