Welcome back to a new week! Here are the updates for each of my classes.

6th Religion

This is a big week in sixth grade religion. After spending all of the year studying the Old Testament, we will finally begin studying the life and ministry of Jesus! This week we will study one of my favorite moments of Jesus’ life, when he was at the temple as a 12 year old boy and His parents left to go home without Him. There are so many important points to take away form a seemingly simple story. The memory verse for this week is Nehemiah 8:10. The quiz will be on Wednesday.

6th Social Studies

Our social studies this week also ties in with the life of Jesus, as we are studying Christianity in the Roman Empire and then the decline and fall of the empire. There are no tests or quizzes this week.

7th Social Studies

Seventh grade will have their test on Topic 6 Part 2: Western Expansion, on Thursday, May 5th. Extra help will be available after school on Wednesday, 3:10-3:40 pm. The students will then work on research projects about various inventions of the Industrial Revolution, which will lead into our last unit before we review for finals.

8th Religion

This week we will be studying the last few lessons on the Babylonian Captivity. We will study Ezekiel’s complicated and symbolic vision that starts off his book of the Bible, and then we will learn about Queen Esther saving her people from being decimated in the Persian Empire. The memory verse for this week is John 8:36, and the quiz will be on Thursday.

8th Social Studies

This week we will study how the United States helped bring victory to the Allies in World War II, which will be supplemented by our trip to the Nassau County Holocaust Museum. Later this week the students will work on research projects on important American leaders from World War II.
