Greetings to one and all, and welcome back to a new week at Trinity! Monday, we celebrate the life and accomplishments of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In chapel this week, some of the students will share portions of their research projects on the work Dr. King did to gain equal rights for all people. This is a fitting tribute to Dr. King, as his faith was at the forefront of all his work. In each of the social studies classes, we are getting back to the regular curriculum this week. Here are the updates.

6th Religion

This week we will be studying the early years of David. We will study David being anointed to be the second king of Israel, and his heroic battle against Goliath. The memory verse for this week is John 4:40, which is on page 59 in the student book.

6th Social Studies

In social studies we will be starting our unit on Early China. We will start off by studying the Huang River Valley, and then the Zhou dynasty. It was during these years that many pillars of Chinese culture were formed.

7th Social Studies

This week we are beginning to study the early government of the Unites States under the Articles of Confederation, and then the events that led to the writing of our current Constitution.

8th Social Studies

The eighth grade will be starting the unit on the Progressive Era. This week we will focus specifically on immigration and urbanization.

8th Religion

This week we will be continuing to study the book of Judges. The students will be creating story boards of the battle Gideon led against the Midianites, and then we will study the life of Israel’s tragic hero, Samson. The memory verse for this week is Philippians 2:13, which is on page 59 of the student book.
