Hello to one and all! Welcome back to to new week at Trinity. Here are the updates for religion and social studies.

6th Religion

This week we will be learning about the split of Israel and Judah, and then the work of the prophet, Elijah. The memory verse for this week is Joel 2:13, and the quiz is on Friday.

6th Social Studies

In social studies, the students will be completing and presenting their projects on ancient African Kings and Queens. Later this week, some of their work will even be featured during morning announcements! The next topic we will study is Ancient Greece.

7th Religion

The students will start the week by putting the finishing touches on their Creation books, which they will hopefully share with their friends in the lower grades. Later in the week, we will begin a series of lessons on angels- what they do and various encounters people from the Bible had with angels. The memory verse for the quiz on Wednesday is Psalm 34:7, which goes along with our theme for the week.

7th Social Studies

In social studies this week, the students will be researching prominent African American government leaders to conclude our study on civics and to help celebrate Black History Month.

8th Religion

In religion this week, we will finish up unit 3 with a lesson on Solomon’s wisdom and the Book of Proverbs. Then, we will review unit 3 and the test will be on Tuesday, February 14th.

8th Social Studies

This week we will finish up World War I, focusing mainly on the role of the United States aiding the Allies. We will focus especially on the Harlem Hellfighters, who played a pivotal role in the war. The test on Topic 12 will be next Thursday, February 16th. Next, the students will be researching prominent African American military leaders.
