Welcome back! We are getting right back in the swing of things, so here are my updates for this week.

6th Religion

Sixth grade will have their test on Unit 3 this Friday, March 3rd. They will begin their review in class on Monday morning.

6th Social Studies

Before the break, we started studying Ancient Greece, and we will continue right where we left off. We will study life in Sparta, Greek society, and the various wars among the Athenians and Spartans.

7th Religion

In religion this week, we will cover some very serious topics- the devil, and heaven and hell. Throughout the lessons we are reminded that while  we live in a fallen and sinful world, we have hope in our redemption through Christ’s sacrifice for the sins of the world. The memory verse for this week is John 6:68-69, which was posted before our break.

7th Social Studies

Before the break, we learned all about President Washington’s administration, and this week, we will learn bout the birth of our two party political system (which Washington warned against), and the challenges faced by Presidents Adams and Jefferson.

8th Religion

We will cover a variety of topics in religion this week, as we work our way through 1 Kings and 2 Kings. We will learn about the end of Solomon’s life, the split of the kingdom between Rehoboam and Jeroboam, and then the ministry of Elijah. The memory verse for this week is Joshua 24:15, which is a good reminder that we need to place God above all else.

8th Social Studies

This week the students will be working on their Topic 12 projects, which are on major African American military leaders. They will present their projects on Thursday, and then we will begin Topic 13, The Roaring Twenties and the Great Depression, on Friday.
