Hello, everyone. It was good to “see” you at Back to School Night on Thursday. As we all said, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out with an email. Here are the updates and links for the week ahead.

6th Religion

In sixth grade religion this week, we will be studying Abraham and his son Isaac. We will focus on the immense amount of faith both men demonstrated and how we can learn from their examples. The sixth grade memory verse this week is Hebrews 1:1-2a, which is on the Google Classroom.

6th Social Studies

This week in sixth grade social studies, we will be wrapping up our first chapter/topic, The Stone Ages. The test will be on Tuesday, October 5th. A link to the review will be posted. To help your child study, please have them go over their notes a little each night, and quizzing also helps.

7th Social Studies

In a homework assignment last week, the students wrote their thoughts on Columbus Day, and if they did not think Columbus was deserving of a holiday, who does? This week, the students will work on a group project and presentation in class to create a holiday and traditions for the people they suggested. Later in the week, we will begin reviewing chapter/topic 1. The test will be on Wednesday, October 6th. To help your child study, please have them go over their notes a little each night, and quizzing also helps.

8th Religion

In eighth grade religion this week, we will focus primarily on prayer. The students will learn about different types of prayers using Abraham’s prayer for Sodom and Gomorrah, and the Lord’s Prayer as examples. The memory work this week is actually the Lord’s Prayer.

8th Social Studies

This week we will be wrapping up the final battles of the Civil War, specifically focusing on the leadership of General Ulysses S. Grant and General William Tecumseh Sherman. The chapter/topic 8 test will be on Tuesday, October 5th. To help your child study, please have them go over their notes a little each night, and quizzing also helps.

Have a wonderful week!
