Welcome back to a fresh week here at Trinity! Time is already flying by, and some of the classes are even about to take their first tests this week. Here are the updates for each subject.

6th Social Studies

On Tuesday, the students will take a quiz on the vocabulary from chapter 1. As I told the students, these are terms that we will use throughout the year in every unit we study. You may view the list here.  The rest of the week, we will continue studying early humans, specifically during the Mesolithic Era and the Neolithic Era. We will focus on the development of technology and tools, agriculture, and the formation of early communities and cultures.

6th Religion

In religion this week, we will continue working out way through the Book of Genesis. We will be focusing on the Great Flood and the Tower of Babel. These lessons show that we need to put God first in our lives, but when we in, He is merciful and quick to forgive when we repent. The memory verse this week will be 1 Peter 3:21. The quiz will be on Thursday.

7th Social Studies

This week we are wrapping up chapter 1 by looking at influences on European culture that were brought to the United States. Then, we will review for the chapter 1 test, which will be on Friday. You may view the list of topics here. The test will be predominantly short answer and long response questions, based on the topics listed.

8th Social Studies

On Friday, the students learned about the circumstances surrounding the Emancipation Proclamation. This week they will be working on research projects where they will find out how more about the experiences of African American soldiers in the Civil War, as well as what African American civilians experienced. These will be group projects, and the groups will present starting on Friday. Remote students will present via Zoom screen sharing.

8th Religion

So in 8th grade religion, we have studied Adam and Eve, Noah, and the Tower of Babel. This week we will be studying another well known Biblical figure, Abram/Abraham. We will look at how God kept His promises, and the lessons we can learn about praying from when Abraham prayed for Sodom and Gomorrah. The memory verse for this week is 2 Corinthians 10:17-18. The quiz will be on Friday.

Have a blessed week, and as usual, don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
