Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year! It is so good to back to school, and I am genuinely looking forward to all we will accomplish this year. Each week i will publish a weekly update of the topics we will cover in each class, as well as notifications for any upcoming tests or quizzes. That being said, scroll through to find your child’s class/subject.

6th Religion

So far we have had some really great discussions in classes regarding just our first lesson, Creation (Genesis 1-3). This week we will wrap up our study of Creation and the fall into sin, and move on to the earliest example of sibling rivalry gone wrong, Can and Abel. The students will have their first memory quiz on Thursday, which will be through Google forms. The verse for this week is our theme for the year, Psalm 46:1. When your child is studying this verse, please make sure they are looking at the ESV version.

6th Social Studies

In social studies this week, we are reviewing the elements of social studies, mainly history and geography. As I told the students, we are moving through this at a brisk pace so we can actually get to the, “good stuff.” On Tuesday, September 22nd, the students will have a quiz on the Chapter 1 vocabulary. They are receiving the list on Wednesday, September 16th. Next, we will get in to studying about early humans. They will learn about various theories of human development, but we will always go back to what we are taught in the Bible.

7th Social Studies

In seventh grade social studies, we are studying about the various cultures and traditions that have shaped the United States. This week we will look at the various Native American culture groups of North America, African trade empires, Asian trade routes and explorers, and finally influences from Europe and the Bible. At the end of the week, the students will work on their first chapter review, which will be posted later this week. The tentative test date is next Wednesday, September 23rd.

8th Religion

As I mentioned above in 6th grade religion, eighth grade has also had some really good discussions. Parents, I thank you for giving your children a solid foundation of faith. This week we are wrapping up our studying of creation and the fall into sin, and then we will move on to the Tower of Babel. The students will have their first memory quiz on Friday, which will be through Google forms. The verse for this week is our theme for the year, Psalm 46:1. When your child is studying this verse, please make sure they are looking at the ESV version.

I pray that the Lord blesses and keeps each of us this week. If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected] .
