Hello, everyone, and welcome back to a new week of the 2021-202 school year! Here you will find a blurb about what each class is studying, notices about any tests or quizzes, and general announcements. Here are the updates for this week.

6th Religion

In sixth grade religion, we are starting at the very beginning, Genesis 1:1. We will be studying creation, the fall into sin, and some of the early family dynamics among Adam and Eve’s children, Cain and Abel. The theme throughout the entire curriculum is how from the very beginning, God is fulfilling HIs promise to save His people through Jesus. The students will have their first memory quiz on Wednesday, September 15th, on our verse for the year: Ephesians 5:8b-10. Each week the students will take their memory quiz on Wednesday afternoon. If this changes, I will post a notice in the Google Classroom.

8th Religion

Much like sixth grade, we are starting from Genesis 1:1. However, we will be focusing on God’s plans for our lives and how to live His Word in our everyday lives. We will be studying creation, the fall into sin, and what exactly God expects from His people. The eighth grade will also be quizzed on our verse for the year, Ephesians 5:8b-10, on Thursday, September 16th.

6th Social Studies

Sixth grade social studies this week will be an interesting contrast to what they are learning in religion. We will be studying prehistory, and archaeological evidence that gives us hints at how early humans lived. Throughout the lessons, we will return to what we know to be true from the Bible.

7th Social Studies

In seventh grade, the students will learn about the earliest cultures of the Americas- the Olmec, Maya, Aztec, Inca, and North American culture groups. We will study how they lived before European contact with the Americas.

8th Social Studies

This week we will be learning about the events that directly led to the Civil War. We will do some review of where we left off in June, and then we will move on to the election of Abraham Lincoln and the events that occurred as a result.
