Welcome back to a new week at Trinity! I hope everyone is enjoying the crisp fall weather. The next few weeks are full of activities, projects, and tests. Here are the updates for this week.

6th Religion

This week we will continue through the family tree of Abraham. We will get into the end of Isaac’s life, and into the events of the lives of Jacob and Joseph. What is amazing is seeing the promises that God originally made to Abraham, being carried on through the generations, all the way up to Jesus. A major focus of the lessons this week will be how God is still at work during troubling times- a very important lesson for all of us to remember at this point in our own lives. Due to the short week, there is no memory quiz this week.

6th Social Studies

In social studies this week, we will focus on the achievements of the Ancient Mesopotamians, especially the development of their writing system. In fact, the students will be doing an activity with clay in which they will try their hand at writing in ancient cuneiform. We will end the week by studying the later cultures of the Fertile Crescent. There are no tests or quizzes this week.

7th Social Studies

On Tuesday, the students of seventh grade will be presenting the TV style mock interviews with 16th century explorers that they worked on last week. Then, they will work on reviewing for their test on Chapter 2, which is this Friday, October 16th. You may view the study guide here.

8th Social Studies

This week we will be getting into the details of Reconstruction following the Civil War. We will look at the amendments passed to protect the rights of the former slaves, the political shifts that took place, and the long term affects of ow Reconstruction was handled- both positive and negative. The Students will have their test on this chapter next Thursday, October 22nd. The study guide will be posted in my blog for next week.

8th Religion

Much like sixth grade, we are focusing on how God is still very much at work during times of trouble, and how He strengthens us when we feel inadequate. We will be finishing up ours study of the Book of Genesis with the life of Joseph, and then we will get into the Book of Exodus. We will study the call of Moses, and how God protected His people during the plagues in Egypt. The memory verse for the quiz on Friday is Philippians 4:6-7; a very important verse to remember in times of trouble and testing.

Have a blessed week!
