Hello, Everyone. I am very much looking forward to meeting with each of you to discuss your child’s progress on Thursday during Parent Teacher Conferences. Even though there are no classes on Thursday, we still have quite a lot of work to get through this week. Here are the updates.

6th Religion

In sixth grade religion, we will spend the week studying the Tabernacle, the tent church the Israelites used for worship during their journey to the Promised land. We will study all of the elements and how they apply to modern worship. There is no memory quiz this week.

6th Social Studies

This week we are reviewing for the test on Chapter 4: Ancient Egypt and Kush. The test is on Friday, and you may view the study guide here. Our next unit of study will focus on Ancient India.

7th Social Studies

On Tuesday, the students will have their test on Chapter 3: The 13 Colonies. You may view the study guide here. Next, we will study the way of life that developed in the colonies, and what becomes a unique American culture.

8th Social Studies

In eighth grade, we are completely switching gears as we begin our next chapter. Chapter 18 will focus on the New Industrial Revolution of the late 1800s and early 1900s. We will examine the growth of cities, immigration, and we will especially focus on inventors and entrepreneurs of this time. In many ways, the shifts that society experienced at the turn of the 20th century are not far off from the technology boom of our present day.

8th Religion

To start this week, the students will work on designing their own updated version of the Old Testament Tabernacle. Their designs should be modern day, but must contain all the elements of the original Tabernacle used by the Israelites. They will work on this during class. Then, we will learn about what the 12 spies experienced who were sent to scout out the Promised Land for the Israelites. This is definitely a lesson that focuses on trusting God even when the odds seem stacked against us. The memory verse for the quiz on Friday is Isaiah 41:13.

Have a wonderful week!
