Greetings to one and all. I apologize for the late upload this week. I will strive to be more punctual going forward. I hope you are all well, and that you are enjoying our crisp winter weather. Here are the updates for this week.

6th Religion

This week we will study the first kings of Israel, Saul and David. In addition to the regular lessons, we will also do a few activities relating to National Lutheran Schools Week. There is no memory verse this week.

6th Social Studies

The students will take their test on Chapter 6: Ancient China on Friday, January 29th. You may view the study guide here. Next week, we will begin studying Ancient Greece.

7th Social Studies

In Seventh grade this week, we are studying the Declaration of Independence and the major battles of the Revolutionary War, specifically in the Middle States and out west. There are no tests or quizzes this week.

8th Religion

In eighth grade religion, we are focusing on serving God and others, which is the main theme of Lutheran Schools Week. The students will be working on projects to help them explore how they can serve God in a secular career. They will work on this mostly in class, and you may view the outline here.

8th Social Studies

This week we are focusing on U.S. foreign policy, and the events that made the United States into a global, “superpower.” The students will learn about the long term effects of the Spanish American War as well as U.S. involvement in Latin America. Both topics are still relevant today. This is a rather short chapter, so the students will have their test on Chapter 20 next Friday, February 5th. The study guide will be posted next week.
