Hello Parents! Happy first week of Spring! We have a fun week ahead of us. On Thursday we have our Olympics Show. You are going to love seeing all the children perform. They have been working so hard on it. The zoom information for Thursday’s show will be emailed later in the week. Please remember to complete the daily attestations each morning prior to coming to school.
This week we will continue with letters, numbers and sight words. We will be learning the letter Yy and we will continue reviewing the numbers 1-20 through number recognition using ten frames. Please continue to practice sight words: a, green, and, red, away, blue. The sight words for this week are “big” and “yellow”. We are continuing with our theme, Growing Up Healthy. This week’s topic will focus on “Eating Well” with the big idea centralizing around knowing how to eat healthy foods. The vocabulary words we will learn this week are: health, fruits, vegetables, grains, protein and nutritious. We will read the books “The Beastly Feast,” “How Does Your Salad Grow” and “Good Food.” For math we will learn to compare and graph and we will talk about words such as fewer, fewest, least, and most.
This week’s Scholastic Weekly Reader, titled “Meet an Illustrator” will help children understand that some books have authors, who write the words to the story and illustrators, who bring those words to life in pictures. Using shape cut-outs, the children will get the opportunity to illustrate their own story. During Jesus time, we will continue to talk about Lent and Easter, with a focus on how Jesus dies and arises.
