Hello Parents! I hope the kids enjoyed the three day weekend. I’m excited to have everyone back in school. We have a busy week ahead as we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, continue talking about Lent and Easter, and practice for our Spring Olympics Show.

Please remember to dress your child in green on Wednesday as it is our Green Day Celebration.  Additionally, please complete the daily attestations each morning prior to coming to school.

This week we will continue with letters, numbers and sight words. We will be learning the letter Xx and we will continue reviewing the numbers 1-20 through number recognition using ten frames. Please continue to practice sight words: a, green, and, red. The sight words for this week are “away” and “blue”. We are continuing with our theme, Growing Up Healthy. This week’s topic will focus on “Taking Care of Myself” with the big idea centralizing around knowing how to be healthy. The vocabulary words we will learn this week are: exercise, fitness, healthy, hurt, medicine, nutrition and rest. We will read the books “First Aid”, “How do Dinosaurs Get Well Soon? and “Let’s Exercise.”  For math we will learn the concepts equal, more, less, and most.

This week’s Scholastic Weekly Reader, titled “Spring is in the Air,” is perfect for this week as we talk about the first day of spring, which is on Saturday, March 20th.  During Jesus time, we will talk about how children praise Jesus.
